Casuarinaceae, also known as sheoaks, is a genus of trees in the Casuarinaceae family. These species are widespread in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. Sheoaks are distinctive for their thin, needle-like leaves and thick, dark brown roots.
Some species of sheoaks are used in natural medicine for their healing properties. An infusion of sheoaks leaves is sometimes used as a diuretic and to help treat urinary tract diseases. Sheoaks leaves are also used as a painkiller and anti-inflammatory.
