SCIENTIFIC STUDIES ON REISHI
- Gao Y., Zhou S., Huang M. et al. “Effects of Ganoderma lucidum (Lingzhi) on Immune Functions in Advanced-Stage Cancer Patients”. Immunological Investigations (2003)
Objective: Phase I/II study evaluating immunomodulation in 34 gastrointestinal-cancer patients.
Conclusions: Six-week supplementation (5.4 g/d) increased NK-cell activity and IL-2 and IFN-γ levels while alleviating chemotherapy-related fatigue. - Chen S., Xu J., Liu C. et al. “Randomized Controlled Trial of Ganoderma lucidum for Glycemic Control in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus”. Phytomedicine (2016)
Objective: 12-week, double-blind trial in 84 individuals with type 2 diabetes.
Conclusions: Reishi extract (1,800 mg/d) reduced HbA1c (-0.5 %) and LDL-C (-8 %), improving insulin sensitivity without side effects. - Wang Z., Shen L., Liu L. et al. “Ganoderma lucidum Improves Sleep Quality and Reduces Fatigue: Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Study”. Phytotherapy Research (2018)
Objective: Eight-week supplementation (2 g/d) in 60 individuals with insomnia.
Conclusions: The Reishi group experienced shorter sleep latency (-14 min), longer deep sleep (+11 %) and reduced daytime fatigue (-18 % on the FSS scale).
