Matcha - Japanese Tea
Matcha - Japanese Tea

Discovering Matcha

Renowned as a distinct Japanese green tea, matcha is presented in a powdered form and stands as the pinnacle of quality in the tea market. It's celebrated for its deep umami taste, brilliant green hue, and smooth consistency. Essential to the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, it's crafted from the first picking of young tea leaves, shielded from sunlight to amplify their chlorophyll and L-theanine content, resulting in a strikingly green color. Our matcha is sourced from only the finest green tea leaves, guaranteeing a product of unsurpassed quality.

The flexibility of matcha powder extends beyond ceremonial uses to being an innovative addition to lattes, iced teas, and a variety of desserts. It serves as a distinctive and nutritious means to flavor your culinary creations and beverages.

Matcha's Heritage

With its origins in China, matcha was initially embraced as a healing tea. It found its way to Japan in the 12th century thanks to a Buddhist monk who imported it from China. Monks leveraged matcha to bolster concentration during meditation sessions. It quickly became esteemed among Japan's noble class and was incorporated into spiritual rituals.

In the 16th century, matcha earned widespread acclaim in Japan through its inclusion in tea brewing ceremonies, becoming an essential element of this practice. These ceremonies, a pivotal element of Japanese tradition, continue to this day with matcha at their heart.

The preparation of matcha demands meticulous attention. Using fresh, filtered water slightly cooled before contact with the powder is key to avoiding lumps. Matcha is traditionally whisked with a bamboo tool until achieving a frothy, velvety finish.

Matcha's Healthful Attributes

Matcha is an abundant source of antioxidants, promoting metabolic rate enhancement, memory boost, and focus improvement, while also imparting a soothing effect. Additionally, it aids in cardiovascular health, possesses anti-cancer attributes, reduces levels of harmful cholesterol, and helps in managing blood sugar levels.

Given its wealth of beneficial nutrients, matcha also finds its application in skincare, serving as a facial mask or scrub to diminish puffiness and skin redness. It's a valuable addition to hair care products to enhance hair strength, and can be incorporated into baths for a relaxing and skin-rejuvenating experience.
